A career that brings in seven figures in salary usually is enough to satisfy someone. However, for Nicholas Flathau, all that money doesn’t mean much if there is no personal reward or growth. Building himself from the ground up, both as a person and as a businessman, Flathau has found success in many different fields. The most meaningful path he has taken, though, is his passion project: Flawless Diamonds Co.

At 17 years old, Flathau was living on his own in Chicago, unsure which direction he was heading. He spent the next five years moving from city to city in search of ways to make money just to stay above water. Finding a somewhat permanent gig at a nursing home, Flathau spent two years working there while he began to pursue a degree in nursing. In 2016, he realized this pursuit wasn’t going to be enough for him. With his back to the wall, Flathau became the owner of an AT&T franchise. Immediately, his life changed.

By 2018, Flathau had made his first million dollars and learned things about himself as a business person and about who he truly was. The biggest, potential-shattering realization Flathau made in those few years, however, was that owning an AT&T franchise was not giving him personal fulfillment.

That same year, Flathau had struck up an interest in jewelry and began purchasing custom pieces from a dealer in Dallas. He became fascinated with craftsmanship and delved into extensive research on diamond suppliers, diamond quality, and learning how to design custom jewelry on his own. Eventually, he realized this wasn’t just a hobby – it was a true passion. In that moment of clarity, Flawless Diamonds Co. was born.

Since then, Flathau and the Flawless Family have created custom pieces for artists like NLE Choppa, Lil Reese and King Louie. With a business model built upon honesty, transparency, and quality of work, Flawless Diamonds Co. is making waves in the jewelry world. “The most rewarding part is educating the clients on what they are getting within their piece and building those relationships for long-term business and also, bringing their imagination to life,” Flathau shares. The Flawless Family is committed to changing the jewelry game, one diamond at a time.

Flathau has built this career and lifestyle all on his own and could easily sit back and relish in his success. Yet, he is always looking to move forward to better support his family and his community. Flathau brought Flawless Diamonds Co. back to his hometown of Chicago and committed himself to help families in similar situations as himself when he was younger. Paying rent for families, providing food, and donating clothes are just a few ways that Flathau has used his success to give back to his community.
